Kelvin Technical Manager

The answer is NO - schedule it!

For half the day at least, I don't notice Luke sitting behind me (I can hear him - sure) but I'm mostly left alone to build all the systems I've dreamed up to make our sites work better. Everybody has a say in the company, so I've had the opportunity to help define how it evolves and how it is run. It makes it a lot easier to convince Luke about the importance of schedules!

Seasonal Giddiness

posted by kelvin on December 9th, 2008

The winter season is finally here, you can already feel the buzz and excitement about the office, especially as our annual ski/snowboarding trip is fast approaching, where we will once again venture to the slopes of Meribel.

The trip is now only 5 weeks away, but for snow junkies like myself that's far to long. Fortunately, the guys at Merinet help pass the time by publishing regular snow updates and photos of the valleys.

One of my favorites photos so far this season is this one, taken yesterday at the peak of Mount Saulire:

The torturous pressure is being applied, so its that time ...

Like last year I took myself off skiing again, instead on Meribel I went to Les Get this time, almost with the luck of the Irish there was a 4 day blizzard which made for amazing conditions, but I'll save the details of that for a later post.

In the past couple of years Netbasic has gone through a lot of changes, from 3 members of staff to 13, if this continues we'll soon need more office space - which is amazing, but it's only when you stop and look back that you truly appreciate how awesome something is.

As is the case with my RX8, I'm sure its only been a few months since I was handed the keys, but its actually almost 3 years and in several weeks it will be handed back to the dealership. Its certainly been a joy to drive, but only now have I begun to appreciate how good it really is.

RX8

Sii and Jon often jibe about how "spatially challenged" (to put it politely) the RX8 is, it's impossible to fit a suit case into the boot and the back seats are a squeeze (they shouldn't be so tall!), I try to argue the point but they are right, so it's a losing battle. Still, it's a dream car which is well built and none of the competition comes close.

What next? I considered getting another RX8, but the current model has been available since 2003/04 and it would be just my luck if a new version was released shortly after, I have decided on another car which will be revealed once it's been delivered.
